Frequently Asked Questions

How does Setso Project make donating to small NGOs in Botswana more cost effective?

The two most common methods for transferring money from and individual in the U.S. to an organization in Botswana are 1. Wire transfer and 2. Money Order. Wire transfers incur a fee to the donor of between $30 and $45 and require a trip to the bank. Money Orders are usually free for the donor but cost between $15 and $20 to the receiving organization. Setso Project minimizes losses to bank fees by pooling all donations to Partner organizations and transferring the pooled donations to Botswana on a quarterly basis. Thus, rather than losing money to bank fees on every donation to every organization, Setso Project incurs the fee only once per quarter and the burden of that fee is shared by all our Partners.

Does Setso Project retain a portion of donations for administrative costs?

At the moment, no. Since we are just beginning operations we are able to operate on fully donated time and resources. As we grow, Setso Project may begin to cover administrative costs by taking a small percentage of all donations. We will let you know if and when that change occurs. Our mission is to pass on as large a percent of the origional donation to our Partners as possible, therefore, we will do all we can to keep administrative costs low. Please note that donations made to Setso Project without designation to a particular project may be used to cover administrative costs.

Is my credit card information secure when I donate?

Yes, your credit card information will be collected through PayPal's secure server and is never seen by Setso Project. For more information on how your information is secured by PayPal click here.
